A commitment to supporting veterinarians’ mental health and well-being is the driving force behind the annual fitness challenge and fundraising event.
The Let’s Vet Together, Let’s Move Together challenge was launched by
veterinary ownership company, Suveto, in partnership with nonprofit organization, Not One More Vet (NOMV). The annual fitness challenge aims to raise at least $10,000 in funding to promote awareness about veterinary well-being.
The risk of stress, anxiety, and depression is higher within the veterinary industry, with studies showing one in six veterinarians are prone to considering suicide, Suveto reports.
“Our commitment to veterinarians goes far beyond our business mission of advancing and supporting veterinary ownership. Unfortunately, the profession is at severe risk when it comes to mental health and well-being, so we put extra emphasis on helping our teams achieve a healthy, balanced life,” says Courtney Post, Suveto president.
Let’s Vet Together, Let’s Move Together participants are encouraged to complete “challenges” in one or more of the three well-being categories, namely: Physical, Emotional, and Social. The activities may include walking or hiking, biking, journaling, gardening, mentoring, volunteering, among others.
“Through our eight programs we provide peer support, resources, and outreach and awareness services to veterinary professionals around the world,” says Darlene Bos, executive director of NOMV.
Interested joiners are invited to download the AtlasGO mobile app, use code ‘vettogether23,’ and create a profile. For each selected activity, Suveto will donate to NOMV until its goal of $10,000 is reached.
The initial year of the Let’s Vet Together, Let’s Move Together challenge logged a total of 7,000 activities, which raised $11,800 in funding for NOMV.
