Providing treatment for companion animals, as well as wildlife and exotics, is among the goals of a new veterinary center opening in 2025.
The University of California (UC), Davis, announced its acquisition of a facility at 5040 Shoreham Place in San Diego to enhance its veterinary services across Southern California, aiming for a grand opening in autumn of next year.
Following this expansion, the current UC Veterinary Medical Center – San Diego will be rebranded as the Janice K. Hobbs UC Davis Veterinary Medical Center Southern California. This renaming honors Jan Hobbs, a philanthropist, avid animal enthusiast, and donor from Southern California, whose contribution helped in securing the new building.
Among the offerings of the new facility include 24/7 veterinary emergency and critical care, plus expanded veterinary specialty services, to include cardiology, clinical pharmacy, hemodialysis, nephrology and advanced urology, internal medicine, oncology, surgery, and radiology/diagnostic imaging. Further, the center will support UC Davis experts in providing field medicine to wildlife and exotics, working with local veterinarians in delivering specialty animal care.
