Pet care community urged to assist in relief efforts after Hurricanes Helene, Milton

The Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) Pet Giving Network has issued a call for critical supplies in support of the Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton disaster relief efforts. The Pet Giving Network Action Alert requests supplies from pet care companies and organizations in critical demand in the affected communities.

“Pets are family, and in times of crisis, they need our help as much as people do,” says Steven Feldman, president of HABRI.

By connecting pet product companies, non-profits, and shelters, the network supplies essential items, such as food, bedding, and medical care to animals affected by emergencies. In response to hurricanes, floods, and wildfires, the Pet Giving Network coordinates donations from the pet care community to help overwhelmed shelters care for displaced and at-risk animals.

Among the urgent needs requested by the network are:

  • Collar and leash sets
  • Collapsible food bowls
  • Equine Feed buckets
  • Equine Lead lines
  • Rope Halters
  • 36-inch wire crates
  • Travel crates (soft-sided, plastic)
  • Metal feeding bowls – all sizes
  • Puppy pads
  • Disinfectant wipes (pet-safe)
  • Nitrile Gloves – all sizes
  • Dog and cat food
  • Puppy and kitten food and milk formula
  • Probiotics
