Vet care program distributes 13 tons of cat food in Iowa

Providing food security, veterinary care, and other essentials is the driving force behind a month-long vet program.

Alley Cat Allies, a nonprofit organization for cat and kitten protection, is set to distribute tons of free cat food to caregivers in Des Moines on October 25 as part of their ongoing Keeping Families Together program. The initiative, which is a collaborative effort with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, is aimed at providing support for both indoor and outdoor felines.

A prior food distribution event on October 11 drew a lineup of cars, with caregivers eagerly arriving early in the morning in anticipation of receiving the supplies for the cats under their care. In total, Alley Cat Allies plans to distribute over 13 tons of cat food in Des Moines this October through these two events.

The food distribution event will take place from 12p.m. 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday, October 25, at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 1615 SE 14th St., in Des Moines. Food will be loaded directly into a car line at the building.
