A commitment to increasing affordable access to pet services is the driving force behind the recent launch by a major American big-box retailer.

Walmart opens its first-ever Pet Services center in Dallas, Ga., this month. The retailer aims to offer “significant” savings to customers by providing a one-stop destination for pet services, food, and supplies, as well as veterinary care.

“It was a natural decision to pilot our Walmart Pet Services center in the same store where Walmart opened the doors to its first Walmart Health center in 2019, says Kaitlyn Shadiow, vice president of merchandising, Pets, Walmart, in a statement. “Now, customers will be able to conveniently access their family’s basic health care solutions in one central location, including the health care needs of their furry friends.”

Walmart Pet Services has a dedicated storefront. Services will be offered at Walmart’s Every Day Low Prices, including routine veterinary care (vaccines, wellness exams and minor medical services), grooming (baths, nail trims, teeth cleaning, ear cleaning and basic hair trims) and a self-serve dog wash.

All services will be provided by veterinary and grooming professionals in collaboration with PetIQ, the organization that owns and operates the in-store veterinary clinics on-site in over 65 Walmart stores in the U.S.
