A “devotion” to furry companions drove a generous contribution from a Colorado woman.
Michele Alpert had allocated part of her estate to causes aligned with her passion for animals before her passing in January, directing $86,200 worth of her “legacy” to Morris Animal Foundation.
In a statement shared by the Foundation, Sherri Alpert described her sister as “very philanthropic. Whatever she had left, she gave.”
Michele’s health struggles didn’t deter her spirit, Sherri added. Fascinated by the Foundation’s work with mountain gorillas in Rwanda, Michele went to Africa to witness the efforts firsthand.
“Her life was animals,” says Sherri. “She loved animals–all animals.”
