Providing life-saving care to pets in need is central to a recently concluded fundraising effort.
Initiated by the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG), the VEG Cares Share Day last Oct. 19 has raised more than $1 million, across 60 VEG location in the country. The proceeds from participating locations will go to charity, with 50 percent going to the hospital’s VEG Cares account, and the other half to charities selected by VEG employees.
“Each year it is exciting to see hundreds of our VEGgies come together from all over the U.S. to make a huge impact on underserved pets and other causes they care deeply about,” says David Bessler, DVM, founder and CEO for VEG. “We look forward to continuing our charitable efforts through the VEG Cares program to help communities in need.”
VEG Cares runs 100% on donations to provide care to pets in need at all VEG hospitals, including pets with families facing financial distress, animals displaced by natural disasters, police, service and fire animals, and animals under the care of a shelter or rescue organization.
