DVM-launched nonprofit streamlines access to care

The myBalto Foundation allows veterinarians to establish their own in-clinic fundraising without added administration

Ensuring veterinary clinics can continue to provide much-needed care to all patients is the goal of a newly launched charitable platform.

California-based pet health company myBalto has launched the myBalto Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to alleviating the financial burden associated with pet care for both owners and veterinarians.

Specifically, the unique, user-friendly platform offers veterinarians the opportunity to create their own charity account exclusively for their hospital, making the cost of care for more manageable for pet owners without placing a financial burden on clinics.

“We understand the challenges faced by pet owners and veterinarians alike when it comes to the affordability of veterinary care,” says the foundation’s founder and CEO, Robert Parkins, DVM. “Many pet owners struggle to cover the costs of necessary treatments, leading to difficult decisions about their beloved companions’ well-being. Simultaneously, veterinarians find themselves caught between a desire to provide quality care and the financial limitations of their clients, resulting in compassion fatigue and the provision of free services that can exceed $100,000 per year per hospital.”

The complimentary platform comes with a range of unique features designed to streamline the process of accessing financial assistance and providing affordable care, including:

  • Fundraising made easy: The foundation facilitates fundraising efforts on behalf of the veterinarians, eliminating the need for additional administrative work.
  • Simple claims submissions: Veterinarians receive an intuitive, user-friendly platform that allows them to submit claims in minutes and enables them to swiftly move forward with the required treatment.
  • Unrestricted support: Veterinarians have the freedom to assist the cases they deem most deserving, without any restrictions imposed by the foundation.
  • Seamless integration: The platform seamlessly integrates with the veterinary management systems already in use, streamlining fundraising and claims submissions.

“The myBalto Foundation offers all the advantages of a charity organization without any of the administrative burdens,” Dr. Parkins says. “Veterinarians utilize our platform as a valuable tool to help reduce the cost of pet care, ultimately benefiting their team, clients, and the overall well-being of their patients.”
