Seeing the light in selling to ‘the dark side’

Four years ago, I did something that surprised me—I sold my practice to “the dark side,” a veterinary corporation. I never intended to do this, as I had heard so many negative comments about the problems of selling to the corporate world. Below are details about my journey that include issues I’ve never heard anyone else share about selling a practice to a corporation and continuing to work for the purchaser.

Rabbits in General Practice: Breaking the ‘Exotic’ Spell

In this session: Veronica Gventsadze, DVM, MA, PhD’s course will benefit all team members of a general practice that wants to open its doors to rabbits. Tech Talk: Do you embrace or haze new employees?

These new employees come with horror stories to eventually be shared with us once they feel a tiny sliver of comfort. We draw them out piece by piece, encouraging them to talk to us and share their past. In part of us getting to know them, we learn about their previous experiences and can in some way relate to them with stories of our own or provide reassurances that their new clinic is in no way the same as their old one.

The Science of Medical Massage and Why It Belongs in Your Practice

In this session: Narda G. Robinson, DO, DVM, MS, FAAMA, describes the scientific basis of medical massage and reasons why it belongs in your practiced. In contrast to other forms of massage, medical massage focuses on problems related to a patient’s diagnosis and implements techniques to achieve specific outcomes. It complements conventional medical care by reducing stress, pain, and discomfort as well as facilitating the healing process through neuromodulation, myofascial relaxation, and improved circulation.

Whether it’s the newsworthy cicadas and their 2024 double brood hatching or year-round bees, sometimes a pet finds a winged creature (or an eight-legged one!) a tasty snack. This infographic helps clients know what to look for if their pet eats an insect, when not to panic, and when to make an emergency visit.
