‘Charlie,’ ‘Luna’ reign ‘most popular’ U.S. dog names

It’s the end of an era for “Max,” which has been the most popular dog name in America for a decade. This year, “Charlie” tops the list for male dogs; while “Luna” is number one for female dogs.

Pet sitting and dog walking network, Rover.com, has released its annual roundup of most popular dog names in the U.S. The lists were derived from the company’s database of pet owners.

Additionally, the company reported the trending pop culture-inspired dog names, including “Alanis,” “Drew Barrymore,” and “Ginger Spice.” Beyond the music icons and movie stars, nostalgic collectibles also influenced pet owners, with “Furby,” “Nerf,” and “Polly Pocket” making it to the list of trending ‘90s dog names.
