$10,000 donation supports safe stays for pets amid domestic violence

Providing safe temporary housing for pets in domestic violence situations is central to a new wellness partnership in California.

Pet food company, Bundle x Joy, has joined forces with BestyBnB, an online platform that helps social service and animal wellness agencies secure safe, temporary homes for owners’ pets during their time of crisis so they can seek help. Per the partnership, Bundle x Joy will donate $10,000 to sponsor safe stays for pets caught in the midst of domestic violence situations.

One of the reasons victims stay in an abusive situation is because of the fear their abuser will harm or kill their pets, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV). This partnership ensures victims of domestic violence who are seeking temporary shelter will have the peace of mind that their pets are being cared for.

Additionally, Bundle x Joy will help recruit volunteer caregivers.

“Growing up in Southern California, pets were always at the center of our home,” says the pet food company’s founder, Jess Berger. “When crisis hits, our pets provide much needed joy and love that can fill even the darkest of moments. That’s why we are committed to supporting keeping people and pets together, helping women to find strength when they need it most.”

The partnership will launch in San Diego, Calif. For more information on how to volunteer, click here.
